Puppet Show for Tali’s Birthday

This project took 2 months to make, and I couldn’t have done it without the generous help of my community. The idea to create this show began as a much smaller idea but eventually developed into a community-wide collaboration. I story-boarded, hosted a community prop-making workshop, facilitated a "tech rehearsal,” and then enlisted a few friends to help film. All post-filming editing was done with iMovie and Canva.

Well-Designed City Street Shirt

I got inspiration for this project when I saw a job posting for an Artist-in-Residence position with a St. Paul district council. I love using my art as a way to translate data and information, so I felt excited by this project. As the daughter of an urban-planning-professor, I can’t help but pay attention to the ways that city streets are designed; is there protected bike infrastructure? Bus lanes? Green space? Curb cuts that interfere with pedestrian and cyclist routes? Multi-modal housing? Wide residential streets that encourage speeding down quiet neighborhoods?

This shirt is the first in a soon-to-be collection of clothes that highlight elements of well-designed cities, and I would love to collaborate with local businesses to include neighborhood-specific stores, organizations, and landmarks.

“Embodiment is a practice of communication,” typed on nissatype.com

This is an interactive website that I collaborated on with my sister and professional artist, Tala Schlossberg. Each letter is my body, turned into a font. The process of creating these shapes required collaboration and trial and error, and the result is interactive and exploratory.

Shirt Poetry

This project was a collaboration with Tala Schlossberg. The idea behind this project was to make an interactive and wearable method of communication and creativity. Shirt Poetry allows for interchangeable and endless phrase options!

I hand embroidered hundreds of words, we spent hours thrifting for clothing, we attached the Velcro, and then we started writing!
